Unannounced Sony Xperia SP and L pop up in UK, expected to start shipping this week
Sony probably didn’t want to steal any of Xperia Z and ZL’s thunder back at MWC, which is whythe expected L and SP weren’t unveiled, but now seems like as good a time as any for the mid-range duo to debut.
And if the two’s identities weren’t cleared up enough by the recent rumors, several British retailers have jumped the gun and listed the L and SP as “coming soon”.
The more technically impressive fellow, the Xperia SP, aka C5303 or HuaShan, is to be sold by LambdaTek for £312.98 and Micro Aid Ireland for €389.79. That’s $470 and $510 respectively, which is not exactly budget-friendly.
Then again, the SP is rumored to come packing a decent amount of heat, with a 1.7 GHz dual-core S4 processor, Adreno 320 graphics and 1 GB of RAM. The 4.55-inch display will boast a 720p resolution and there should also be a mid-tier 8 MP Exmor RS camera slapped on the back.
Oddly, Micro Aid says that first SP stock is expected on March 12 (tomorrow), while LamdaTek plans to kick shipping into gear a week later. Amazon and eBuyer also have the Xperia SP listed, but pricing and release details are kept under wraps.
The 4.3-inch Xperia L (C2015, or TaoShan) has the exact same ETAs on LambdaTek and Micro Aid, while price points naturally differ a little. The former plans to sell the phone for £219.18 ($330), while the latter will offer it at €270.46 ($355).
Based on (still) unconfirmed speculation, the Xperia L will come with an FWVGA (854 x 480) panel, a 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon CPU, Adreno 305 graphics, an 8 MP camera, 8 GB of on-board memory, microSD support and a 1,700 mAh battery.
So what do you say, Sony, isn’t it about time you made these two official? You know, with full specs, pics, recommended retail prices and all. After all, they’re not that exciting. Are they?
