Twitter names Adam Messinger as company's new CTO

Twitter is continuing its recent overhaul of its executive ranks with the appointment of Adam Messinger as the company's new chief technical officer.
Messinger, who joined Twitter in 2011 as vice president of app development in the engineering department, revealed his new role at the company via his Twitter user profile. The move, which was first reported by AllThingsD, fills an executive position vacant since 2011 when Greg Pass left the company.
It wasn't immediately clear when this appointment occurred. CNET has contacted Twitter for more information and will update this report when we learn more.

The appointment comes a few months after the social network
named a new chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Ali Rowghani moves into the COO position from his previous post of CFO at Twitter, while Mike Gupta moved into Rowghani's former position after working as the treasurer for Zynga.Formerly responsible for app design and user experience, among other things, Messinger will now focus on the appearance of future versions of Twitter, AllThingsD reported. Messinger's former duties will be absorbed by Chris Fry, who formerly served as vice president of infrastructure in the engineering department. Fry's new title is senior vice president of engineering.
