ST-Ericsson CEO steps down

Didier Lamouche, CEO of ST-Ericsson, has announced he will be stepping down.  Lamouche, having been on the job since late 2011, is reportedly leaving to pursue other prospects. There is no named successor at this time.
Lamouche leaves a company is a bit of flux, with ST Microelectronincs having made the decision late last year to dissolve the partnership. ST and Ericsson will continue to work together, but will no longer be joined at the hip. A dissolved partnership, pending litigation, and a declining processor business make for big shoes to fill.
It’s not all terrible int he world of Ericsson, though! Their chip is in the Galaxy S3 mini, and they’ve recently been tapped to help Metro PCS (and, by virtue, T-Mobile) transition to LTE technology. They also won an award at the recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona for their LTE convergence solutions, so the Swedish network giant is still on the right track.
Look for Ericsson to fill the position quickly, as much work is to be done when a company is in transition. Lamouche is said to be leaving at the end of the month, which doesn’t leave a lot of time to find a successor. A seamless transition may not be possible, but in this case a smooth one is likely.
