We’re live from Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona

For mobile enthusiasts, there really is no greater event than the Mobile World Congress, taking place every February in magnificent Barcelona. While shows like CES Las Vegas or IFA Berlin have strong mobile components, only MWC is a full on extravaganza where everything revolves around the mobile devices we obsess over every day.

This year, MWC moved to a new, larger venue at Gran Fira, to accommodate the hordes of visitors, journalists, and attendants that are expected to crowd its halls.
While the official opening is tomorrow, some companies have already announced their new products this week, in an attempt to steal the spotlight (cough, cough, HTC). Samsung will not show the Galaxy S4, but the Note 8 is already official, and we might get a few extra surprises.
Today, we expect announcements from Huawei, which is rumored to present the Ascend P2. Mozilla has a press event scheduled in late afternoon, so we might get to see how Firefox OS looks and behaves.
On Monday, we expect Sony to show off the new Xperia Tablet Z, while Asus teased something metallic descending upon Barcelona (quite literally). ZTE is said to be partnering with Mozilla for a first Firefox OS handset, while the company’s Android lineup will be represented by the oversized Grand Memo.
A few other Android makers are likely to hawk their wares during the show. Add to the mix an abundance of accessory makers, carriers, app developers, and other technology companies, and you got yourself the mobile geek’s nirvana.
The Android Authority team will do its best to attend all major press events, and bring you all the good stuff, including hands-on reports of new products, versus posts, interviews and, hopefully, some juicy rumors.
Stay tuned for our live coverage and check out the MWC 2013 tag for a high-level view of what’s going on in Barcelona.
